Well, I will tell about the Legend of Sawerigading from Luwu regency. This story is written in Sure’ I Lagaligo Sawerigading was the son of Luwu king, Bataralattu or grandchild of Batara Guru from the kingdom of Luwu.
Sawergading has twin girl. Her name is We Tenriabeng. Based on the prediction of Batara Guru, Sawerigading and Tenriabeng will fall in love and married each other.
According to local culture, if someone could not married with her/his brother and sister. If they didn’t obey the regulation, they will get great disaster. So, that’s why since they young till become adult they never met so, they didn’t recognize each other.
Once upon a time, when Sawerigading went sail to Ternate, he got information about his beautiful twin. Sawerigading surprised!
When Sawerigading back from Ternate, Sawerigading look for his twin in upstairs of palace directly when he met her, ‘oh my God! She is very beautiful’’. And directly, he fell in love to his twin Tenriabeng. And decided to married with her. And his father adviced him, but he didn’t care about it! He still married with his sister.
Sawerigading said “Daddy I don’t care about it! I want to married with Tenriabeng eventhough she is my sister I love her very much”.
So, at last, We Tenriabeng asked Sawerigading to propose married to his cousin on China, because they are very similar.
We Tenriabeng said “brother, let’s go to China. We have cousin over there. Her name is We Cudai. Daddy ever told me that We Cudai and I as the same as cut in half of areca nut”.
Suddenly, their that come…
Her Father said “Right, sweety, Cudai’s face and body similar with Tenriabeng”.
And for making Sawerigading believe, We Tenriabeng gave him a piece of her hair, a bracelet, and ring to him and if it was not true, We Tenriabeng was ready to married with Sawerigading.
We Tenriabeng said “brother, if this hair not long as long as We Cudai’s hair, then bracelet and ring were not suitable with her, I’m ready to married with you”.
At last, Sawerigading wanted to go to China Eventhough he was opposed. That’s why Sawerigading cut a greatest Walenrange tree in the head of Saqdan river. But the tree of Walenrange couldn’t be cut, eventhough the tree separated.
Sawerigading was confused then Tenriabeng went to cut the wood secretly. And it’s amazing! Just once cutting, the tree fell down with crash. By Using her esoteric knowledge she changes the greatest tree become a great sailboat.
We Tenriabeng said “Sawerigading, I will help you to cut this tree! Hep….and I will change the tree become a great sailboat! Change … ! m … I’m success…!”.
The day after, Sawerigading back to the head of Saqdan river and how surprised he is, when he look the greatest Walenrange tree fell down and became sailboat in a night. It’s amazing and It’s impossible!.
Sawerigading said “Hai, who was cut this tree? It’s amazing I belive, he or she is a intelligence person”. Well, then Sawerigading used the sailboat made in Walenrange tree to go to China for propose to get married with We Cudai, eventhough many challengers faced in his sailing then Sawerigading saw the piece of hair,bracelet and ring, that given by We Tenriabeng, and the king of China try to check the long of We Tenriabeng’s hair with the hair’s of We Cudai, and use the bracelet and ring in We Cudai’s hand.
After all, the proof the same, the king of China believe, and receive the Sawerigading propose to get married with We Cudai.
And finally, Sawerigading and We Cudai get merried. And the next year’s, they had a child. Their’s child name is Lagaligo.
